MED CAMP!!!(Part 3)

Posted by KaLip at 02:34 PM on February 14, 2005.

Now where was I...ah yes, we arrived at camp. Well we were divided into groups, and members shared a cabin (both guys & girls). I think one of the girls was particularly icky about it BUT, we later found out there were ickier things...

Well we got settled into our cabins and were left to our own devices until dinner time which was about an hour or two away. So we basically did nothing...group one was assigned to dinner duty (hehe). Oh and the groups had to come up with names!!!

I think there was "Ginger Ninjas", "Hot Yard Chicks", "Ten in a bed", "Jack lives here", and my group was "Bum-Rumbling Crumpets". LoL, and there were 3 more groups but I can't remember the names...obviously boring ones...

After dinner, we walked down to the beach to do nothing lol. Just basically hung around. Some were playing cricket and footballs while others just walked around chatting. I met another Malaysian who was from Sarawak...I think...and he was really really short lol. I swear he could pass off as a 12 yr old if not for the outline of his veins protruding from his arms.

Anywho, after the beach, we went up to the Recreation Room for games (competitions between groups). There were a wide variety... some physical...some not so physical...some...a tad TOO physical...

We were told to wear some extra layers beforehand and most of us thought we were gonna play strip poker lol. Turns out, it was just "clothesline". I'm not gonna bother explaning how it works... Anyway, in the end, many had stripped down to the bare essentials...and some went a bit further...fortunately, there were paper plates lying around... (Note: To not 'ick' some of you out, my level of participation for all the 'icky' events shall be left out of any entries).

Oh and each group also had a mascot that was randomly chosen. (We were supposed to steal each others' mascots) We got a football which was easy to hold onto. The hardest one would've been a toy cart. This was obvious when Sudesh (from my team) managed to steal it lol. He also stole the barbie doll's head from a second team later that night. The giant plastic rose was also stolen that night by a different team.

Other games included eating jellybeans with chopsticks, and exchanging clothes with someone of the opposite gender (girls had no problem here cause they had bigger clothes...but for guys...t'was not a pretty sight). Then there was the "best joke" competition and a "best impersonation" competition.

The best joke was awarded to this one:
(I shall type what happened that night)

" A guy's car breaks down in the middle of the night, I don't know why"
*APPLAUSE APPLAUSE*

"No, that's not it!"
*Laughter*

"Anyway, he goes to barn and asked to spend the night. He was kinda spunky looking, kinda like me."
*bits of laughter*

"And the chinese guy that owns the farm says to him, you can stay, but you must not screw my daugher. If you do, I shall put the three chinese curses on you. So he thinks ok, I won't screw the daughter"
(blah blah, long story short, he screws the daughter)

"He wakes up the next morning to find a huge stone on his chest, with note saying 'first chinese curse, stone on chest'. So he quickly throw the stone out of the window of the second floor room. Then he sees that on a huge note written on the wall in front of him 'second chiense curse, right testicle tied to stone', so he quickly leaps out of the window and as he's falling, he reads a huge note written on the ground 'third chinese curse, left testicle tied to bedpost"
*RAWS OF LAUGHTER!!!*

The End

Hehe, there were other good jokes too. Sudesh came up with "What did the Pakistani man say to the Pakistani woman when they got divorced?", the answer was "Don't worry, we're still gonna be cousins"

OH, i nearly forgot...the MEDICAL STUDENTS' DANCE! It's this stupid dance that we were taught. It was really basic and everyone could easily learn it lol. And it even had a special song to be danced to hehe. Everytime they played the special song, everyone just jumps up and starts dancing, hands flailing around lol.

Which reminds me of the clothesline game. Whilst some were covering themselves with paper plates, someone suggested to play the dance song lol.

Anyways, will post continuation of first night later.

MED CAMP!!! (Part 2)

WARNING! WARNING! 'TIS A BORING ENTRY!!!

BUS TRIP!
T'was a cool trip. We had this seat-swapping thing to meet more people in a small amount of time hehe. So the people with aisle seats had to switch every 10 minutes. Was sorta cool I guess..

I first met this guy from third year (senior students came to supervise). Was an ok guy I guess. Quite friendly...(otherwise he wouldn't've been there).

Met some other guys um...1 Malaysian (Zi)...1 Taiwanese (Henry)... 1 Aussie (Brent)... 1 Pakistani (Faraz)...um...I think that's all ...They were all quite nice I guess, and we just talked about stuff in general.

After that, we made a stop at a liquor store LOL. Med students buying liquor...and it's not just a bottle or two, it was whole boxes of both bottled and canned beer. Oh yeah, and vodka too. Only the handful that were underaged (ie me) didn't get any.

The rest of the bus trip was kinda uneventful...except at the end... when we arrived. We were unloading our bags and Zi put his bag on this bench which happened to have some chewing gum on it lol.

Currently feeling: peaceful

MED CAMP!!! (Part 1)

Posted by KaLip at 09:16 PM on February 13, 2005.

WOOO HOOO!!!
T'was a camp to remember...

OMB! MED STUDENTS ARE SOOOO MUCH FUN!!!
Well...at least med students beside myself of course...but ANYWAY...

I went to uni a bit earlier cause I had to get my access card from somehwere so I can go into "restricted" areas. Hehe Was there at about 10, and then I went with my friend to get some of her forms for some stuffs. Then I went to the med faculty office and asked if I could leave my stuff there and collect them later (Note: Med staff is not associated with camp, the camp was run by the Medical Students' Society).

Anywho, I was told that I had to be back by 12 o'clock cause they closed at that time. And we were supposed to meet up at 12.30. (Note: it was about 10.45 then)

After that, I caught the tram down to Melbourne Central with Kiran (I think there's also a Kiran in Ipoh but this isn't that Kiran which some of you might know) to meet Tat Woon just for the heck of it. Actually had some trouble finding him lol. He was at the street that I thought he would be at...BUT...when he said he was at the Newsagency, I thought he meant he was at the Newsstand. LoL, a very big difference, even though they were about 20 metres away from each other (possibly less). So I was searching for him until I rang him again and I realized the mistake that was made...

So we met up, I intro'ed him to Kiran, then we went to meet my other friend Nick. We went to a Chinese restaurant to eat dim sum...unfortunately...I only had half an hour to eat before I had to leave to catch the tram up to the uni again.

Went to the restaurant, sat down at table for four (Tat Woon had to leave soon to go to college so he just had tea). And I actually ordered food in CANTONESE!!! TALK ABOUT WOW!!! LoL, in Australia, there is no shame in being out of tune, a lot of people are. :D

After lunch, I left 20 bucks with my friends and went to catch the tram, and after the stupid tram, it was like 5 minutes till 12! So I RAN!!! AND RAN AND RAN AND RAN AND RAN!!! .....Okay fine...I jogged....I JOGGED AND JOGGED AND JOGGED AND JOGGED!!! (And huffed and puffed along the way). Arrived just a bit before 12. Got my stuff and went out to the lobby to wait with the other students. YAY!!! I WAS ON TIME!! Woo hoo...NOT! The officed closed only half an hour later... *rolls eyes* Not happy...

Anyway, I guess that's all the pre-enter bus stuff. Will continue some other time!
Currently feeling: tired

Chinese New Year?

Posted by KaLip at 06:20 PM on February 9, 2005.

Just another day for me...well...sorta...

I have like zilch relatives here in Melbourne, and we don't really visit each other that often. Although we will be going to an aunt's house for dinner tomorrow night.

We don't even get holidays here. And for some people (like my brother) he still had to go to university today. He just got back 15 minutes ago and it's 6 in the evening. Did I mention he left home at around 7?

Anyway, I won't be joining the festivities at Chinatown and places like that during the weekend because I have other plans...

MEDICINE ORIENTATION CAMP!!! WOO HOO!!!
Hopefully anyway...I'll be sleeping with total strangers... which is not my cuppa tea...BUT, they will be the people I'm spending the next six years with so I guess it'll be a good way to get to know them.

I'm leaving for the camp on Friday but I'll be meeting some friends before that. (I also havta get my passcard for the computer labs on that day cause I forgot to get mine on orientation day). Tat Woon MIGHT be joining us for a drink but he's probably too busy studying... *rolls eyes*

BTW, does anyway know what's happened to Victor? I'm pretty sure I gave him my contact number but he hasn't rung up yet. Gonna kill him when he does... (but don't tell him that 'else he'll never call)

Anywho..um...not much else going on right now actually... got my camp...and then going back to school on Tuesday after that...then going to Ormond College to talk to Yr 12 students fro school on the Friday...then maybe going to coffee night on that night somewhere in the city...then orientation week the next week...dean's speech on the tuesday + other weird activities that'll last a while...and then another thing to attend on the Wednesday + other weird activities that'll last a while...I think there're some weird activites on the Thursday and Friday also...And I think there's a party the Friday night..

List of weird activites:
TOUR of Melbourne...lol
TREASURE HUNT...(Yes we're mostly 17 and 18 yr olds...)
BBQ!!! (FREE!!!)
FREE MOVIE!!! (The Incredibles and something else...)
Stuff in general

yeah...I think there're one or two more but I don't remember exactly what they were..

Anyway...there's my update after like so long of being stagnant. (Note: updated by request of monitorlizzie...)

HOME!

Posted by KaLip at 04:46 PM on January 21, 2005.

I'm Back in Melbourne!! YAY!!
Well..I actually got back yesterday morning...

The flight took us about 7 and half hours...was like so long...
I watched Papparazzi and Wicker Park
Papparazzi was Ok...except it's kinda saying that...um...(at the risk of spoiling it for some), ppl can get away with crimes if they're "powerful"/"influential" enough...

Wicker Park was kinda confusing...but it was a nice story...I guess...

Anywho...we should actually have taken less than 7.5 hours...but the airport was too busy so the plane had to circle around for a while longer...

Anyway...when we finally landed it took us like so long to get off the plane, Tat Woon & his sister waited for me even though they didn't have to. And we were walking to immigration...and my brother and I sorta left them behind without realizing cause they went to buy duty-free stuff. And then at Immigration...they arrived a bit later...and so my brother and I went ahead to baggage collection and there we waited...and waited...and waited...

Our bags were probably one of the last cause we checked in at 1 something (Ipoh) even though the KL-Melbourne flight was at 9.40...

Anywho...we got our bags a bit before the Chao's (LoL I just realized that without the apostrophe, it'd be the chaos) but it meants about 50m extra of waiting, although in the end, they got ahead of us cause they didn't have any food and could go to the faster lane.

Finally...we got to the customs officer and this particular one was chinese and she looked a bit fierce (so I called her dragon lady - not in front of her of course), and she was checking through all our handcarry bags...it was kinda embarrassing cause I had bought some stuff for some friends (ie soft toy)... lol, she was so fierce she didn't even laugh ...

When we got out...we had to wait for a taxi too...I was like :O:O:O

FOUR LONG FRIGGIN' WAITS!! Immigration,Baggage,Customs,Taxi!!!

GRRRR
We landed at 8.40 but only got home 2 hours later!!!

So not happy, and I didn't sleep on the plane...and when I landed...I didn't sleep either LoL
So I slept at 10 yesterday night..

And when I woke up this morning, it was kinda sunny so I thought "must be around 6", so i went back to sleep, then I woke up again and thought "must be around 7.30"...so i went downstairs and to my surprise, my brother and sister were already up!!

I was like "why're you two up so early" and they were like "do you know what time it is?"

I looked at the clock , it was 9.40 lol "D'OH"
